Everyone at Zype is excited and humbled to be part of SXSW. Many Zypesters have been attending and partying at SXSW for years, and now its our turn to hunker down, get in front of an amazing audience, and do our best to impress the startup community at this awesome event.
Other than doing our best in the competition, my main two goals are:
- Not eating more than 2 Best Wursts before getting on stage
- Get a selfie with Sir Mix-A-Lot (one of the emcee's!)

Zype, the cloud-based video technology service for premium video content owners to build, scale and manage direct-to-consumer streaming destinations was selected as a finalist in the Entertainment and Content Technologies category ( http://sxsw.com/interactive/2015-sxsw-accelerator-finalists) for the 7th annual SXSW Accelerator competition presented by Oracle. The 2015 SXSW Accelerator is the marquee event of SXSW Interactive Festival’s Startup Village, where leading startups from around the world showcase some of the most impressive new technology innovations to a panel of hand-picked judges and a live audience. Over 500 companies submitted to present at SXSW Accelerator, where Zype was selected among 48 finalists in six different categories.
Launched out of stealth mode in December 2014, Zype’s robust suite of tools and services allow premium video publishers to build their own customized video destinations that pull in entire libraries from all video players and distribution end points (including Hulu and YouTube) into a discoverable consumer experience.
“After successfully launching publicly only a month ago, we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase our technology at such an esteemed conference,” said Zype CEO Ed Laczynski. “Getting accepted as a finalist in the accelerator program is a great honor and we’re looking forward to competing with the best of the best in cloud and entertainment technology.”
“Over the past six years of companies competing in SXSW Accelerator, more than 50 percent have gone on to receive funding in excess of $1.7 billion and 12 percent of the companies have been acquired,” said SXSW Accelerator Event Producer, Chris Valentine. “This year’s finalists have all demonstrated the capability to change our perception of technology and we expect to see them achieve similar, if not greater, success than our past finalists.”
The two-day event will be held the first weekend of SXSW Interactive, Saturday, March 14 through Sunday, March 15, on the sixth floor of the Downtown Austin Hilton. The pitch competition will then culminate with the SXSW Accelerator Awards Ceremony on Sunday evening, March 15, where winning startups from each category will be announced and honored. The Accelerator competition will feature finalists across categories including Enterprise and Smart Data Technologies, Entertainment and Content Technologies, Digital Health and Life Sciences Technologies, Innovative World Technologies, Social Technologies, and Wearable Technologies. SXSW Category Sponsors include Rackspace, Enterprise and Smart Data Technologies Category Sponsor; and IBM, Innovative World Technologies Category Sponsor and Dyn, Social Technologies Category Sponsor.
Zype will present alongside seven other companies in the Entertainment and Content Technologies at 3:30pm on Saturday March 14th.
