Zype has added a new global region for our Playout service and improvements to our streaming analytics that can provide insights for smarter programming decisions.

Faster Streaming for Global Viewers with European Union Playout Service Availability

Zype has released a Playout service enhancement this month that allows customers to create Playout channels that originate from different geographic regions, starting with the European Union. This means that audiences in the EU will enjoy fast stream start times, and publishers will have a regional data lake for data compliance and segmentation purposes. 

When customers encode video with Zype and have EU-enabled services, they can now synchronize content into the Zype EU Cloud Zone for fast stream start times and low latency for all viewers in the region. There are no additional charges to store content with Zype in the Zype EU Cloud Zone - as we don’t ever charge for storage. This new optimization is being made first for linear Playout content but will soon be made available for VOD and other formats. 

With the new EU region, teams can now scale regionally focused channels independently of each other. For example, channels running in Europe can leverage different advertising campaigns than those based in North America while maintaining the same underlying content. Zype’s EU Region Playout service also complies with regulatory data and consumer protection laws set forth from the European Union. 

Program Smarter Using Interval Views on Stream Hours Analytics 

Zype now supports granular time interview views on stream hours reports so publishers can make better informed programming decisions. Stream hour data can be viewed in increments as small as 15-minutes to pinpoint when viewers are streaming most. Stream hour views are available by daily, hourly, 30 minute, or 15 minute increments:

The new reporting capability allows insights on the breakdown of viewer consumption by time slice, to help identify peak periods and make content and user experience decisions. For example, below you can see midnight was the highest trafficked stream hours time:

Looking for ways to increase traffic to your webpage and drive revenue? Zype's got your back. Zype's affiliate marketing integrations are engineered to provide your affiliates with useful information they require, helping you reap the full benefits of their program. And not only that, but Zype's automatic redirect from subscription embeds can help direct your audience to the pages you want them to see most.

You can use Zype's subscription or transaction embed to display an invisible tracking pixel that will capture valuable information from your viewers that you can return to your affiliate. Adding this tracking onto the embed is simple and crucial in providing your affiliate program with the information they require.

Zype allows you to add an auto redirect URL into the platform that will direct your audience to your page of choice upon a successful subscription purchase. In addition to providing this functionality to help guide your audience experience, you can also add macros onto the end of your redirect URL to capture additional information to return to your affiliate. We support dynamic value fill for the following macros:

The Zype consumer ID for the consumer who just completed a purchase

The Zype subscription ID for the consumer who just completed a purchase

The email address of the consumer who just completed a purchase

The Stripe ID for the consumer who just completed a purchase

What's New at Zype: Supercharge Your Affiliate Marketing

At Zype, we know time is of the utmost importance when it comes to your workflow, so we’ve developed a webhook service that allows you to save time when tracking consumer subscription and transaction events.

O ur webhook service allows developers to receive webhook notifications at a given target URL or server based on common events within the Zype platform. You can choose to receive triggers based on any of the following events:

And it gets even better than that; each event response includes additional, helpful metadata, so you don’t have to go searching for it. Just check our API Documentation to see what additional metadata you’ll receive. For example, the consumer created event will send the event type as well as the full consumer object, which can be referenced in our consumer API; consumer_ID, site_ID, create_at date, and more!

What are some ways to leverage Zype's Webhook Service?

Once your events are sent to your webhook URL, the possibilities for next steps are virtually endless. We’ve seen success with using the Consumer created event to send out a batch of automated welcome emails to your new consumers.

You can also create more specified automations, such as promotions for a consumer’s birthday, internal team announcements once your subscriber count reaches a certain number, or notifications when a subscription is deleted to launch a “Save this customer” campaign. Be creative! Think about what you’d like to be notified of and how you can use that information to best serve your audience.

As we’ve seen with MLB Advanced Media and our own customers, premium paid content has gained steam in this arena because it drives tangible ROI for video.

Entertainment networks are still looking for ways to bring more value to their content, whether they want to make the content more accessible on a variety of devices from set-top to mobile, or they want to incorporate premium paid content into the business model.This is becoming a major movement in the television entertainment space where reports predict that each “major” TV network will introduce OTT-powered, direct-to-consumer services by 2022.

Direct-to-consumer is reaching even further than major television networks, as businesses with premium video look for new ways to monetize and share the content they have developed for their audience.
